Work Experiance - Thurs 4th June 2015 - KMFM Filming/Celebration Ceremony Mixing

We turned up at 1pm to start the day to understand what is about to happen, look over the equipment, and learning about the rules.

It started of with us meeting Zoran who took us to a room to discuss what was happening, he told us that a crew from KMFM was coming to do a live radio session in the college and they wanted us to film it. He also explained that he wanted a 3 minute video that documents the day so anything we can record to fill that time up can be useful.

Zoran then started to talk about the Celebration Ceremony and what we will need to do for this, he explained that there is going to be three cameras set up in the hall which is going to a live feed, this means he will need three camera operators and a mixer. The mixer job was to change the camera shot from camera to camera to change what an audience will see on the live screen. I choose to take on the responsibility of the mixer to cut from shot to shot.

After everything was explained Steve came in with the two cameras we are going to be using to film the KMFM set up/live session for the documentary. This camera was the JVC GY-HMZ1E:

We took the camera to a quiet area to test different shots, how to focus the camera, the different settings and how to start recording. We did a sound test to see what the built in microphone sounded like and to see if we liked the quality of the recordings.

At around 2:30 we got news that the KMFM crew has arrived so we met up in the hall, at the hall we decided what roles we wanted to do, one crew would go film them arriving in the car and the other would set up the cameras in the hall. I was part of the crew who went to film some extra footage with the KMFM crew.

For the filming we decided to film one of the members getting out of the KMFM car, this is to get a Britain got talent feel to the documentary. We choose to only film the feet/door height of the crew getting out of the car, then as she was walking panning to get a bigger shot:

After that we filmed it the KMFM crew walking into the building, this can also be used to fill the 3 minute documentary.

After we finished filming this we went back into the main hall while the KMFM crew was eating, and we was helping set up the camera, hiding the cables etc. This was from 3-4:

From 4-5 I got taught about the job I was going to do, witch was the mixing:

From 5-6 I was practising the mixing:

From 6:15 that is when the celebration ceremony started, it finally finished at 7:30:

From 7:30 till 8:30 we finally helped clearing the hall.
